Mr. Charles F. "Papa Derf" Ray, age 72 of Macclenny, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016. Mr. Ray was a United States Air Force veteran who served during the Vietnam War. After his service to his country, he was a cargo manager for twenty five years at Piedmont Airlines. He loved fishing and owned a bait and tackle shop for a period of time. Mr. Ray was an avid Jacksonville Jaguars football fan and a season ticket holder. He also enjoyed playing the Florida Lottery. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be forever missed. He is survived by his daughter: Karen (Ronnie) Kiper of Macclenny; son: Frederick (Susan) Ray of Atlantic Beach; grandchildren: Hunter Lee Ray of Atlantic Beach, Jordan Lee Kiper and Jared Dean Kiper, both of Macclenny. Interment will be held 1:00pm, Friday, January 15, 2016 at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Forbes Funeral Home, 904-259-4600.
