Daniel Lester Combs, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at the Community Hospice Alice and T. O’Neal Douglas Center for Caring, age 92. Mr. Combs was born in Sanderson on October 29, 1933 to Mr. Lester and Mamie (Crawford) Combs. He attended Baker County Schools and eventually went to work for Central Truck Lines, where he dedicated more than thirty five years of service. Mr. Daniel could be found in his garden during his free time, tending to his watermelons and tomatoes. He also enjoyed fishing and was a Jaguars fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Billy Rowe.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 72 years, Mrs. Mary Lou Combs of Macclenny; his sons, Timothy (Melody) Combs, Darren (Sara) Combs, and Michael Combs all of Macclenny; grandchildren, Casey Combs, Dustin (K’Leigh) Combs, and Bethany Canaday; great grandchildren, Emma Combs, Griffin Combs, and Dal’Leigh Combs; siblings, Wayne (Gail) Combs and Shirley Rowe both of Macclenny; as well as extended family and friends.
A funeral service to honor Mr. Combs life will be held Monday, March 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery.
