Dennis Millard Collins

Dennis Millard “Mitch” Collins, 63 of Lake City and formerly of Baker County, passed from this life after a brief illness on Thursday, February 12, 2026. Mitch was the son of James “JL” and Virginia Roberts Collins, born in Jacksonville on March 5, 1962. He would go on to work for the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA), dedicating nearly forty years of his life to service there.

He married the love of his life, the former Cheryl Rosier of Lake City, and together they enjoyed nearly thirty one years of marriage and memories. Mitch enjoyed the outdoors, spending time riding ATV’s and UTV’s. He also enjoyed fishing in his younger years and was an avid Gator fan. His greatest joy, was being a “Papa”.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved daughter, Emily Collins.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Collins of Lake City; son, Chadwick (April) Collins, Sr. of Lake City; grandchildren, Addison, Owyn, and Chadwick, Jr.; brother, Roy (Tracy) Collins of St. Augustine; nieces, Kaleigh and Natalie; father in law, Bud Rosier of Lake City; mother in law, Phyllis Rosier of Starke; as well as extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home of Lake City. Visitation will take place at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Memorial Cemetery, Lake City.
