Dorsey Edward Starling

Dorsey Edward Starling of Gainesville, known best as “Toby”, passed from this life on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at the Lake City VA Medical Center, age 74. Toby was born in Lake City on October 6, 1951 to proud parents, Everett Starling and Velma Gay Lowe.

Mr. Starling would proudly serve his country in the United States Army. After his service, Toby became a barber and owned and operated his own shop for a number of years. He was an avid Florida Gator and Jacksonville Jaguar football fan. He also loved fishing in his free time.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Gary Jones and Beverly Shreve.

He is survived by his wife, Priscilla Starling o f Starke; daughter, Danielle Starling of Keystone Heights; grandchildren, Blake Robinson, Caleb Peterson, Jordan Peterson, Nicholas Moore, and Brianna Richardson; siblings, Lois Adcock of Glen St. Mary, Rheta Dubberley of Glendale, Georgia, Crystal Starling of Jacksonville and Johnny Starling of Macclenny; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Toby’s life will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date with military honors.
