Floyd Larry, Jr. 69 of Sanderson, departed this life and into eternal rest on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Mayo Clinic Hospital. Floyd was the son of Floyd, Sr. and Gracie Mae Allen Larry, born in St. George on September 14, 1956. He joined the Job Corps out of high school and began work in maintenance. Floyd was very skilled with his hands and could work on just about anything. In the last years of his life, he was a valued employee of Muncy Contracting.
Floyd could be found in his free time, standing behind the barbecue grill, and you could not tell him he wasn’t the best grill master around. He loved to prepare meals for his family and friends, and he also enjoyed fishing in his free time. He liked tending to his yard and working with his hands. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and football games were always entertaining if you watched them with Mr. Floyd. Above all else, Floyd was a loving father and grandfather, who would do anything for his family.
He was welcomed at the gates by his parents; a brother, Edgar Allen; an infant son, Floyd Larry, III; and a granddaughter, Katrina Larry.
He leaves behind to cherish years of memories, his sons, Floyd M. (Lisa) Larry of Macclenny, Jason S. Larry of Chicago, Illinois, and Derrick S. Larry of Sanderson; grandchildren, Floyd Stephon Larry, Brooklyn Larry, Travon Larry, Tyler Lacomb Larry, Miranda Carter, Mallory Larry, Malachi Larry, and Xander Larry; siblings; Leroy S. Branch of Greenville, South Carolina, Eddie L. Larry of Macclenny, Timothy Larry of Woodbine, Georgia, Phillip Larry of St. George, Dennis (Carolyn) Larry of Margaretta, Michael Larry of Macclenny, Essie Harvey of St. George, Lucille (John) Sirmone of Jacksonville, Jeannette (Kenneth) Ruffin and Georgia (Van) Henderson both of Douglas, Georgia, and Danny Brown, David Robinson, Betty Jo Winn, and Barbara Robinson all of St. Mary’s, Georgia; as well as a great host of nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2027 at 11:00 AM at Emmanuel Church of God in Christ, Macclenny with Elder Joe Ruise officiating. The family will receive friends for an hour of visitation at the church beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Mt. Herman Cemetery and repast will be held at Emmanuel Church of God in Christ directly following the graveside services.
The family of Mr. Larry wishes to extend a most sincere thanks to Mr. Joe Muncy and family, as well to a special friend, Ms. Cynthia Stanley for their support.
Hawke M.T. Forbes and the staff of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home are honored to serve the Larry family during their time of loss.
