Forrest Albert Wheeler, Jr.

Forrest Albert Wheeler, Jr., age 75 of Macclenny, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026. He was the son of Forrest and Josephine (Cuomo) Wheeler, Sr., born July 30, 1950 in Vernon Center, New York.

Mr. Wheeler was a respected educator and coach, with stops at Baker County and Nassau County. He was nationally recognized for his accolades as a football and wrestling coach. He also enjoyed golfing. He spent his free time dancing and was known by family and close friends as the “karaoke king”. He also enjoyed traveling and was very involved at St. Peter’s in the Glen Anglican Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother; and his wife, Carol Finley.

He is survived by his children, Dan (Kristel) Wheeler of Phoenix, Arizona, Matthew (Gloria) Finley of Macclenny, Lynne Finley Breittinger of Macclenny, and Mikell “Mikki” Wheeler of Grand Junction, Colorado; grandchildren, Jackson, Caleb, Robert, Lucas, Hayden, Gabriel and Payton; siblings, Fran (Tom) Sundquist, Dorothy Bassett, and Kathy Wheeler.

Services will be announced at a later date.
