Frances Crist-sten Phillips, 88 of Sanderson, passed from this life Monday, May 19, 2025 at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital. Frances was a lifelong Baker County resident, born in Sanderson on March 30, 1937 to Mr. Hillery “Hid” and Elzie (Harvey) Dugger. She was a graduate of Sanderson High and was a member of the girls basketball team. She would work over the years for the Northeast Florida State Hospital, but her main priority and calling, was taking care of her family. She loved spending time with her grandkids and traveling, especially to the mountains. She also enjoyed gardening and riding her tractor. She also sewed in her later years. She will be remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, George, Wendell, Melvin, AJ, Shirley Jean, Inez, and Mary; son-in-law, James Long; and a son, James Curtis Phillips.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Raymond Phillips of Sanderson; children, Darryl (Tammy) Phillips of Macclenny and Kimberly Long of Sanderson; grandchildren, Jamie (Kim) Phillips, Ryan Phillips, Hillary (Chris) Berry, Kassidy Long, and Dustin (Amber) Phillips; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Yarborough.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 PM in the chapel of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Pine Level Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor Fred Raulerson officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery.
