Gail Gillespie Davis

Gail Gillespie Davis, 77 of Sanderson, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 14, 2026 after an extended illness. Gail was born in Atlanta, Georgia on August 30, 1949. She was the daughter of Mattie (Ozment) Gillespie and former Chicago Cubs catcher, Paul Gillespie. Gail worked for over twenty five years as a manager in the optometry field.

Gail was a diehard Georgia Bulldogs fan. She also enjoyed spending hunting season with her husband. They loved hunting together in South Carolina, where she got to kill several trophy bucks. At home, she enjoyed the company of her pets, most recently, Little Bit, her dachshund.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Sam; and two grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Russell “Rusty” Davis of Sanderson; children, Paul (Melissa) Blackman of Sebring and Annette (Kevin Brown) Blackman of Interlachen; grandchildren, Brooks and Garrett; three great grandchildren; and two sisters, Gwen and Glenda.

Memorialization will be by cremation.
