Jonathan Sidney Kirkland

Jonathan Sidney Kirkland, 50 of Glen St. Mary, passed from this life on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Jonathan was born in Orlando, Florida on January 4, 1976 to proud parents, Granvel and Margaret (Alleman) Kirkland.

Jonathan worked at his brother’s gym, Anytime Fitness, where he brightened the day of everyone who walked thru the door. He was an easy going, happy, sweet soul who was a friend to everyone. He loved Disney, wrestling and football and had amassed an impressive collection of memorabilia over the course of his life. He was an avid Jacksonville Jaguars and Florida State Seminoles fan, and John was willing to go to bat for his teams against anyone who had anything negative to say. Jonathan was an attending member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Macclenny. He will be fondly remembered by those who knew him for his kind and innocent spirit.

He leaves behind two siblings, Jared (Melinda) Kirkland of Glen St. Mary and Margaret Ellen Kirkland of Morgan, Utah; nieces and nephews, Pierce (Brooke) Kirkland, Kali (Drew) Dowling, Amber Faulk, Jacob Higginson, Nairn Higginson, Logan Kirkland, and Makenna Dickson; great nephew, who Jonathan was a proud “Gruncle” to, Drake Dowling; as well as a host of extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Meagan Grimes.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Macclenny with Bishop John Sands officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 AM. Jonathan will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery.
