Lonnie Clayton Rewis

Lonnie Clayton Rewis of Gainesville, known to friends and family as “Clayton”, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, age 55. Clayton was the son of Mr. Lonnie and Mrs. Lucille (Rhoden) Rewis, born on July 22, 1969. He would work for some time with the State of Florida Department of Corrections. Clayton loved to spend time with his family, especially his brothers. He enjoyed going to church, as well as listening to music and rides in the woods.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of thirty three years, Teresa Rewis of Gainesville; stepchildren, Brittany Bryant and Ashton Marsh; siblings, OD (Audrey) Rewis of Glen St. Mary, Terry (Sandi) Rewis and Sheila Rewis both of Macclenny, Kevin (June) Rewis of Jacksonville, Karen (David) Hardiegree of Fernandina Beach, and Zelda (John) Pappale of Old Town; as well as great host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2025 in the chapel of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home at 11:00 AM with Rev. Larry Thornton officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Taylor Cemetery.
