Lucky Francis Durand

Ret. Air Force MSgt, Lucky Francis Durand, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026 under the care of Community Hospice, age 84. Lucky was born in Eunice, Louisiana on July 28, 1942 to Onezime and Elia Marie (Miller) Durand. Lucky would proudly serve his country for thirty years, first with the United States Navy and then the United States Air Force until his retirement. Lucky would move on to the Florida Department of Corrections, where he served as supervising chaplain at Union Correctional for several years, leading souls to the Lord.

In his free time, Mr. Durand enjoyed gun and knife collecting. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Albert, David, Bernice, Isabella, Mable, Lilly, and Ina; and two children, Shannon Durand and Dahlonega Durand.

He leaves behind his wife, Madeline Durand of Middleburg; children, Jerry (Phyllis) Durand and Dawn (Dominick) Massaro; step children, John (Melissa) Henderson, Richard (Sheri) Henderson, Melissa (Thom) Crews, and Tonia (Scott) Peak; nineteen grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; and a sister, Christine Durand.

Visitation will be held in the chapel of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home on Thursday, September 17, 2026 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM. Interment will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at 9:30 AM. A funeral service will be held following interment at Faith Baptist Church at 12:00 PM with Pastor Torrey Dismuke and Rev. Dean McNeese officiating.
