Margaret Carter

Margaret Carter, age 83 of Macclenny, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 19, 2026. Born in Lake City to the late Mayo and Minnie Lee Battles Carter, Margaret was a 1961 graduate of Baker County High School. After spending a number of years living in Ohio and New York, she returned home to Baker County over twenty years ago. She will be remembered as a kind woman who loved to laugh and dance. She enjoyed attending Emmanuel Church of God in Christ where she was a member. Ms. Carter cherished her family and was devoted to her grandchildren. She is survived by her sons: Greg (Jennifer) Carter of Macclenny and Leroy (Carolyn) Burroughs of Springfield, Ohio; daughters: Angie Burroughs and Shirley Ruis, both of Macclenny; sisters: Angie (Lynward) Bones and Mary Bristol, all of Macclenny. Sixteen grandchildren, fifty-one great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild also survive. Ms. Carter was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Stella Mae Carter, Betty Jean Carter, and Leo Carter. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Emmanuel Church of God in Christ, 450 S. 8th Street, Macclenny, Florida with Elder Joe Nathan Ruise officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Herman Cemetery, Macclenny. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00pm, Friday, October 30, 2026, in the chapel of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home.
