Ruby Jeanette Kitchens, 81 of Middleburg, passed from this life into eternal rest on Thursday, November 20, 2025 under the care of the Haven Hospice Custead Care Center. Ruby was born in Elkin, North Carolina on January 16, 1944 and was the daughter of Juanita Mary Gentry Brown.
Ms. Ruby spent the last forty years of her life as a resident of Middleburg. She was self employed, running a cleaning service, “Duke’s Cleaning”, and was also an employee of the Middleburg Wal-Mart for seven years.
Ruby’s life outside of work was spent around family and friends. Ms. Ruby was an avid, skilled bowler and was a member of a bowling league in Orange Park for nearly fifty years. She also had a love for butterflies. She was a member of CrossPointe Church in Fleming Island.
She was preceded in death by her mother; sister, Linda Sue Brown; and her husband, Hubert “Don” Kitchens.
She is survived by her children, Susie (Chuck) Wolf and Duke (Lauren) Kitchens both of Middleburg, and Chuck (Brenda) Graham of Tennessee; grandchildren, Becki (Jessica) Wolf and Camden Kitchens; great-grandson, Elijah Noel; siblings, Betty (Jerry) Wiley of Middleburg, Robert (Doris) Brown of Macclenny, and Jimmy (Elaine) Brown, Danny (Cindy) Brown, and Billy Brown all of Jacksonville; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Ms. Ruby’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at CrossPointe Church, 1871 CR 220 East, Fleming Island, Florida 32003, at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the service at Oak Grove Cemetery.
