Rudolph Jerry Waters

Rudolph Jerry “Rudy” Waters, 78 of Glen St. Mary, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026 under the care of Community Hospice. Rudy was born in Lawtey on June 28, 1947 to the late Herschel and Edith (Thomas) Waters. Rudy worked for over twenty years for the paper bag mill in Yulee before his retirement, where he moved to the Florida Department of Corrections, spending another twenty one years there, retiring as Lieutenant.

Rudy was an active member in several civic clubs. He was a 32nd Degree Master Mason with Dawkins Lodge #60. He also received the Pilgrim Degree of Merit with Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #2412. Rudy was also a member of the Morocco Shrine Center in Jacksonville. Away from serving his community in this clubs, he enjoyed spending time with his family and social activities with friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Allen Waters and Charles Wayne Waters; and a granddaughter, Tabitha Armstrong.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Waters of Glen St. Mary; children, Jerry (Amanda) Waters of Glen St. Mary and Rhonda (Chandler) Combs of Ocala; step son, Anthony Long of Glen St. Mary; grandchildren, Keith Waters, Gracie Waters, and Tara Lowery; great grandchildren, Trinity Armstrong, Trenton Armstrong, Taven Armstrong, and Zoe Lowery; great-great grandchildren, Waylon and Weston Kiper; brothers, Gene (Katherine) Waters of Macclenny and JD Waters of Lawtey; as well as extended family and friends.

A Gathering of Friends will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the chapel of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home.
