Sarah Elizabeth “Liz” Henck, 84, passed from this life on Sunday, April 26, 2026. Sarah was born in St. Augustine on February 5, 1942, the daughter of Walter and Kathleen (Inman) Murphy. She was raised in Manor, Georgia and graduated from Manor High School. She married the love of her life, August “Benny” Henck and they relocated to the Jacksonville area. Liz would attend Jones College in Jacksonville and used her education there to contribute to the family business, “Henck’s Saw Shop”, as a bookkeeper.

Ms. Liz would also lend a helping hand at her church, First Baptist Church of Baldwin. She worked at the church daycare for many years and Mr. Benny served as a deacon. She loved her church and her church family. Ms. Liz was also very passionate about Georgia Bulldog football.

She leaves behind two sons, Walter Henck of Lake City and Rory (Dana) Henck of Baldwin; grandchildren, Anthony (April) Henck, Lea Higginbotham, and Walt (Lyndsey Gardner) Henck; great grandchildren, Oliver Higginbotham, Jace Henck, and Georgia Higginbotham; a sister, Patsy (Henry) Strickland of Waycross; as well as extended family members and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents; siblings, Lawrence Peek, Mary Sue Mixon, Janice Henck, Gwen Griffis, and Jerry Murphy; and her husband, August “Benny” Henck.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Brandy Branch Cemetery with Rev. Chris Drum officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery at 10:30 AM.
