Shirley Yvonne Johnson

Shirley Yvonne Johnson, 83 of Maxville, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026.

Shirley was the daughter of Daulphus and Mary Caroline (Tanner) Higginbotham, born on July 6, 1943. She was a lifelong resident of the Maxville area. She attended Florida Community College at Jacksonville and obtained her LPN license.

Away from work, Mrs. Shirley was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She loved being home, surrounded by her kids and grandbabies, cooking meals for them to enjoy. She also enjoyed reading.

She was preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings; her husband, Carl Johnson, Sr., and a grandson; Bryson Johnson.

She is survived by her loving children; Carl (Tiffany) Johnson, Jr. of Augusta, Georgia, and Carol Williams and Deborah Johnson both of Gainesville; grandchildren, Randy (Kris) Williams, Megan Williams, Whitney Johnson, and Cale Johnson; great grandchildren, Lillee, Marley, Everett, Garrett, Olivia, Teller, Ellis; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Higginbotham; as well as extended family members.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 11, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Maxville at 11:00 AM with Rev. Richard Fish officiating. The family will receive friends at the church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Long Branch Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the funeral directors and staff of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home, Macclenny.
