Virginia Elizabeth Thrift, 83 of Macclenny, reunited with her husband just a month after his passing, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at home surrounded by her family. Virginia was the daughter of Brantley and Mary (Jones) Humphreys, born in Zephyrhills on May 12, 1942, one of six girls. She would eventually settle in Baker County and married the love of her life, Bobby Thrift. Together they would spend sixty six years. Mrs. Virginia worked as a beautician for many years and owned her own salon, “The Stylin’ Hut” in north Macclenny. She enjoyed tending to her flowers in her garden and camping. She and Mr. Bobby enjoyed going dancing in their younger years.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Vera Mae Crews, Nadine Dopson, Sylvia Purdue, Margaret Kirkland, and Robin Mann.
She is survived by her daughters, Lori (Jeff Fraser) Gifford of Jacksonville and Lisa (Mitch) Holtzclaw of O’Brien; grandchildren, Katee (Shannon) Davis, Will (Remi) Gifford, Dylan Gifford, Matthew (Paige) Yarborough, and Elizabeth (Matt) Lynn; great-grandchildren, Presley, Blade, Sophia, Nash, Shira, Luka, Knox, Atlas, and Ridge; as well as several extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home with her nephew, Rev. Chris Mann officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery.
